All-Australia defenseman Ash Brazill has announced she will return to Collingwood this AFLW season, just weeks after winning a netball gold medal at the Commonwealth Games with the Australian Diamonds.
Brazill took all of last season off to focus on her netball career ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
The move paid off as Brazill was part of the squad that beat Jamaica 55-51 in the final earlier this month.

Collingwood announced on Friday that Brazill has decided to return to AFLW this season, but no exact timetable has been set for the 32-year-old’s first game.
“Ash has recently returned to training with the AFLW team and while we’re yet to set an exact date for returning to a game, we’re hoping it’s not too far off,” said Jess Burger, head of women’s football by Collingwood.
“Ash is a very popular member of both the football and netball programs at Collingwood and we are proud to have her return to football in Season 7 of AFLW.
“She is a strong leader with an elite work ethic who has enjoyed a sporting career bridging two sports – both of which she is extremely talented and passionate about.
“It’s quite unique and something we continue to support Ash.”
Brazill has played 16 AFLW matches in five years at Collingwood and won All-Australian honors in her 2019 breakout season.
She also represents the Magpies in the Super Netball competition.
Collingwood’s 2022 AFLW campaign had a winning streak Thursday night when they defeated Carlton by 18 points, 5-6 (36) to 3-0 (18).
