Purdue began a packed Saturday with losses at Michigan State and Kentucky followed by losses at Arkansas. Now, the college basketball rankings are on the move.
With the college regular season coming to an end, fans are getting ready for some really big conference games for the time being that will rock the college basketball rankings heading into March Madness. Saturday’s table was the perfect example of that, and the disaster started early thanks to the Kentucky Wildcats and Purdue Boil.
Matt Painter’s team, the fourth-placed team in the country to be in the game, set out for East Lansing to face a Michigan State team that was, to be honest, already struggling. However, they had no trouble Saturday, as they controlled much of the action and kept a late strike to secure a nasty win over Purdue.
In the next series of games, the Wildcats were also on the way. John Calipari’s team, equipped with Tyty Washington back in the lineup, faced a resurgent Arkansas Razorbacks late in the hour, especially at home. After falling behind early, Kentucky bounced back and had a chance to win, but that doesn’t mean they lost their way today.
With two top 10 losses already on the charts, we got to check out the college basketball rankings and our predictions for how things will turn out after these nasty losses. .
College basketball rankings: Predictions after Auburn’s disappointment over Florida, Kentucky and Texas Tech comfortable wins
- Gonzaga Bulldogs
- Arizona Wildcats
- Auburn tiger
- Kansas Jayhawks
- Blue Devil Duke
- Kentucky Forest Cat
- Texas Tech Red Raiders
- Purdue boil
- Baylor Bears
- Villanova Wildcats
Both Kentucky and Purdue are set to drop in the next college basketball rankings but, although both crashes, the fact of the matter is that losing to Michigan State doesn’t count for highly for the team. Bokeh ball looks quite a bit worse than the defeat to a Razorbacks team that could be the hottest in the country right now.
It should also be noted, the loss to Villanova earlier in the week will cause the Wildcats to drop two places on the rankings.
Of course, these forecasts will remain fluid. Kansas and Baylor also play on Saturday night while Auburn has a tough road test going on in Tennessee and Gonzaga will have the final part of the regular season on the road at the St. Mary’s is aggressive. So we should see more changes coming.
