Goodrem performed a medley of her greatest hits and kept the Springfield crowd pumped during her 15 minutes on stage.
Former Geelong captain and Channel 7 commentator Mel Hickey was over the moon with the performance.
“It was very exciting and great. She’s amazing,” she said.
She was also a hit on social media.
Simpson, who also performed the national anthem ahead of the Melbourne Cup earlier this month, delivered another brilliant performance.
The 25-year-old is better known as a swimmer these days, having competed in the Commonwealth Games earlier this year, but he has shown he hasn’t lost his musical talent.
“Cody Simpson with the best rendition of the national anthem in years. Gosh that was good,” tweeted one fan.
“You have to have Cody Simpson sing the national anthem every time. STAR,” tweeted another.
“The Australian anthem, beautifully sung by Cody Simpson, almost had a Christmassy feel to it playing it!”
Simpson successfully made the transition from pop star to serious competitive swimmer, most notably at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games in August.
Four years before participating in the games he was a performer and sang I Still Call Australia Home at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast.
His mother Angie and father Brad both swam for Australia at the 1987 Pan Pacific Games and the 1994 Commonwealth Games respectively.
A promising junior swimmer, Simpson won two gold medals at the 2009 Queensland State Championships.
In the same year he published some songs on YouTube and was discovered by an American music manager.
His family moved to Los Angeles in 2010 and Simpson became a worldwide pop star, also appearing on Broadway and numerous American television shows.
In 2019, he returned to the pool with dreams of qualifying for the 2024 Olympics.
