Cleveland Confused Why Raiders Game Wasn’t Postponed Due To COVID

With an amazing 20 players sidelined due to COVID-19 contracts, including starting quarterback Baker Mayfield, Cleveland Browns highlight the problems the NFL is facing contain viruses. They are set up to face Las Vegas Raiders in a nationally televised match on Saturday without a large portion of their team.

Mayfield take a shot at the tournament for its experimental protocols. He’s not the only Cleveland player annoyed with the way the league has handled the situation. According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, the Browns were extremely caught off-guard by the tournament’s test and felt confused by the decision to still play the game.

Mayfield and his substitute, Case Keenum, are among the players Cleveland will miss. Head coach Kevin Stefanski will also be absent, as will Kareem Hunt, Jarvis Landry, Austin Hooper, Jedrick Wills, Ronnie Harrison and than.

With Nick Mullens being promoted from the practice team set to start at center, the Browns will face the actual Raiders with a new team. For a team that is scheduled for a nationally televised match and then has a large portion of their team sidelined two days before the game starts is a perplexity for the tournament.

Postponing the match is a reasonable option if player safety is a primary priority. But as Mayfield pointed out, the league is primarily concerned with making money, and rescheduling can be expensive. Cleveland has no choice but to take the bad news in stride, like the tight finish David Njoku seems to be doing.

The Browns and Raiders is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. EST in Cleveland.
