Week 3 of Dana White’s Contender’s Series will demonstrate Clayton Carpenter’s ability to finish
The Contender Series by Dana White week 3 faces a difficult task after a spate of deals and contracts awarded in week 2. Flyweight contender “Concrete” Clayton Carpenter will test his career as he attempts to present an exit UFC brass and earn a spot in one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC.
Carpenter holds an unbeaten record of 5-0 with four finishes and will face Edgar Cháirez (8-3) on Tuesday, August 9. The flyweight matchup is said to be the 2nd fight on the card.
The style this fighter has displayed is exciting with skillful jiu-jitsu and the opportunity to add another headbutt knockout to his resume. The 26-year-old is about three years into his pro career and is fighting out of Arizona but according to his Instagram Bio he shares Mexican and Irish ancestry.
Clayton Carpenter will prove he’s among the best in the world
The flyweight recently fought for LFA promotion last December, brutally defeating a match opponent in 13 seconds. Carpenter trains outside of the MMA Lab gym with the likes of Benson Henderson, Jared Cannonier, Drakkar Klose, Cortney Casey and Mario Bautista.
Carpenter defeated the moderate competition with opponents’ 10-8 records. Mexico’s Cháirez will come with twice the experience and an opponent’s record of 38-18. The challenger’s 2 out of 3 losses were by submission.
Current betting odds favor Carpenter at (-285), while his opponent is the underdog at (+240). Given the 80% finishing rate, the Arizona native is the second-biggest favorite on the card.
