Chris Hemsworth sets Nat Geo first-look deal

Chris Hemsworth, along with production partner Ben Grayson, have announced the launch of Wild State, their new multi-platform production company.

In addition, Wild State will enter into a first-look deal with National Geographic that includes development of all unwritten adventure, exploration, travel and science projects for all platforms on the network and the Disney+ Originals produced by National Geographic. The newly formed production company has several properties ready to go to market across unscripted, scripted and branded projects.

“As lifelong fans of National Geographic, we are thrilled to be able to continue and deepen our partnership with them along with the entire Disney+ platform,” said Hemsworth and Grayson. “Wild State is dedicated to creating immersive narratives that both entertain and shed light on important issues around the globe. We are grateful for the opportunity to tell highly impactful, important stories in the fictional space, supported by the support of the leading global conservation and environmental brand, Nat Geo.”

The unplanned development deal with Wild State comes ahead of Limitless with Chris Hemsworth, National Geographic’s upcoming Disney+ original series, which is set to premiere later this year. The six-episode series was created by Darren Aronofsky and comes from his production company Protozoa, Jane Roots Nutopia and Wild State.

“Chris and Ben have been excellent partners to work with, dedicated to the development and production of the most compelling unscripted programming,” said Tom McDonald, Executive Vice President of Global Factual and Unscripted Programming for National Geographic Content. “We are very excited about this long-term partnership with Wild State and can’t wait to create the next generation of blockbuster content with them.”

Hemsworth is currently filming Furiosa with director George Miller and will also star and produce the upcoming Extraction 2, with Grayson serving as executive producer. Hemsworth also recently reprized his beloved character Thor Odinson in July’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
