With Mario Cristobal seemingly tied to a Miami coach, who could take on the job of coaching the next Oregon team? Here are some options to consider.
Looks like the Oregon Ducks need a new head coach. Mario Cristobal is clearly taking off to Miami in one of the strangest and most controversial coach searches the sport has seen in a very long time.
Regardless of how it happened (and how messy things got for Manny Diaz), Cristobal is headed to Miami. He will no longer be training the Ducks.
Oregon must now move on.
Ducks have a great show and there’s plenty of money available to move around in Eugene. Because of the financial backing Oregon has, there’s no reason the Ducks can’t come out and find the right head coach candidate to replace Cristobal.
Of course, who would that candidate be?
Oregon has a lot of options available. Here are a few names they must consider when looking for their next head coach.

5. Chip Kelly
Why not reunite with the guy who is arguably the greatest coach in show history? When Chip Kelly hasn’t been super successful since leaving Oregon, he’s seen some lightning success with the UCLA Bruins and he’s a brilliant offensive innovator.
It wouldn’t be a bad idea to see it his way.
Kelly hasn’t really won much at UCLA before this season. The Bruins have only achieved an 18-25 record under his lead so far. But, it is worth considering that he is working on rebuilding the Bruins and that they are on the right track.
UCLA this season is 8-4 and, while the defense is not good, the attack is showing some promise. The Bruins are scoring 36.5 points per game and hitting 445.8 yards per game.
If Kelly could return to Oregon, he would have entered a situation where he already had a winning program in place. Ducks have assembled a good offensive formation and can be ready for an instant win.
It can work. Or it can be overwhelming. There’s only one way to find out, Oregon.
