With four podiums out of a possible six in the first two races of the 2022 season, Ferrari has presented itself as the team to beat. Before the start of the season, the Maranello-based team had spectacular pre-season testing and had warned the grid that they are here to win this season.
Ferrari’s boss, Mattia Binotto, has now cautioned all drivers and teams on the grid. The boss introduced Charles Leclerc as a challenger for the title. Leclerc has finished P1 and P2 in the first two races and sits at the top of the drivers’ standings with 45 points.
Mattia Binotti speaks of Charles Leclerc as a challenger Max Verstappen‘s defense said “Charles is ready to fight for the title but we know that since we renewed his contract. He’s fast, intelligent and I’m very happy with the way he drives.”
Ferrari and Charles Leclerc’s season so far
The season has just started and seems to have been heating up since the first race in Bahrain. We are witnessing the dawn of a new era in Formula 1 and with it we have seen changes in the hierarchy of the grid. And this shift in the hierarchy affected not only the driver list, but also that of the team.
Ferrari and Charles Leclerc got off to a great start to the season. The driver looks confident and fought intense duels with reigning champion Max Verstappen in both races. He worked well with the Spanish driver Carlo Sainzagainst whom he lost the battle for P5 in the 2021 driver standings.
Charles Leclerc landed a massive contract with Ferrari when he joined the team in 2019 after spending his first year in F1 with Sauber. And after patiently waiting for the car to develop, he is reaping the rewards as the team is impressed with their 2022 F1-75 car.
