Charlamagne Tha God unsure of Wendy Williams coming back after divorce and health struggles

Wendy Williams and Charlamagne Tha God have been industry friends for years, ever since The Breakfast Club host was her intern on The Wendy Williams Show. The two are friendlier these days, but have been estranged at various points in their careers. And despite the show’s cancellation among other rumours, Charlamagne wishes nothing but a successful comeback for his former mentor.
“Can she make a comeback? I mean yeah, God willing,” he said during an appearance on E! News’ “Daily Pop” on Wednesday, July 27. “Will she? I do not know. I would hate to see her go that way just because she was so great for so long.

The TV personality host reminded the hosts Loni Love and Adam Rippon about Wendy’s impact on the industry, despite viewers having negative opinions of her.
“Regardless of what you think of Wendy Williams, love her or hate her, you can’t deny that she is one of the most successful media personalities of all time,” he explained. “Not just from radio, but to make the transition to television and do 13 seasons of a daytime talk show as a black woman… that’s awesome.”
Wendy has struggled a lot in recent years, but perhaps the biggest blow came when her long-running television series ended earlier this year. Sherri Shepherd and other guest presenters stood in for the popular talk show host for Season 13 amid ongoing health issues and a financial row with Wells Fargo Bank.
“I don’t want to say we’re going down that path because we don’t know if it’s the end,” Charlamagne said. “But I would hope that this isn’t the end. I would hope she gets well and gets back on her feet and bows the way she wants.”
Amid her crumbling marriage to ex-husband Kevin Hunter in 2019, Williams went into a sober apartment building due to alcohol addiction. She reportedly left the facility and relapsed after finding out Hunter had welcomed a daughter with his longtime lover, Sharina hudson.
Charlamagne is the person who introduced Hunter and Hudson, which likely also caused friction in his relationship with the host of “The Wendy Williams Show.” Williams filed for divorce in April 2019, the same month she revealed to her audience that Charlamagne had reached out to potentially resolve their dinner issues. Later that month, on “The Breakfast Club,” the radio host blasted Hunter’s affair and crowned him “Donkey of the Day.”
Williams and Hunter finalized their divorce in January 2020, which was publicly told from their perspective in the 2021 Lifetime biopic Wendy Williams: The Movie.
