Tyrone Biggums, Rick James and Silky Johnson are now Game of Thrones canons. The original Chappelle’s Show characters have been revived for a very special House of Dragons sketch on Saturday Night Live.
Returning host Dave Chappelle brought back three characters from his sketch series, which ran on Comedy Central from 2003-2006. Much like his show, Chappelle reappeared after his 15-minute opening monologue in which he ridiculed Kanye West for his anti-Semitic comments, giving this pre-recorded video a little facility.
“Anyone out here watching this new show ‘House of Dragons,'” Chappelle asked the crowd, microphone in hand. “I’m the biggest ‘Game of Thrones’ fan, I love your new show. And I gotta tell you, I love that they have black characters in them. But to be honest, the black characters…they throw me off a bit. It’s that blonde hair and vintage accents. It’s a bit irritating, where are these people from?”
He then introduced the SNL skit House of Dragons, which was peppered with flashbacks to Chapelle’s Show. First up is Silky Johnson, who has been reunited with original actor Donnell Rawlings. After that, Tyrone Biggums made a cameo and then Rick James (complete with a blonde Targaryen wig), all played by Chappelle. And Ice-T also showed up as “Larry Targaryen” for a brief appearance. The brief sketch ended with James, Johnson and Biggums flying off on the backs of dragons while James kicked his feet all over the saddle and shouted his famous catchphrase into the clouds.
This isn’t the first time Chappelle has brought back his older characters for SNL, in 2016 the comedian recreated The Walking Dead with several Chapelle’s Show characters. Check out the full clip below.
