César Award Nomines 2022: Adam Driver, Aline, Illusions Perdues

It’s officially year of Adam Driverbut really, when is it Not?

The “House of Gucci” scene-stealer begins 2022 with a coveted César Award nomination for Best Actor for Leos Carax’s musical.”Annette. The French equivalent of the Oscars, Driver’s nomination could indicate an Academy nod that will soon come to him as well.

“Annette,” which opens the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, has earned a total of 11 nominations, including Director, Screenplay, Original Score, Sound, Cinematography, Editing, Costume Design, Set Design and Visual effects. The driver plays stand-up performer Henry McHenry, who falls in love with opera singer Anne (Marion Cotillard) before their tumultuous relationship is turned upside down.

“’Annette’ has power through the expressive conceit of rock opera with a thrust Adam Driver at its heart,” wrote Eric Kohn of IndieWire in review of the movie. “[Driver] sing through almost any scene as if the whole world depended on it. “

Xavier Giannoli’s “Illusions Perdues” led the nominations for the 2022 César Awards, with 15 nods. Valérie Lemercier’s musical “Aline,” inspired by the life of Céline Dion, has 10 nominations, while Cédric Jiminez’s “Bac Nord (The Stronghold)” won seven, and Audrey’s Venice Golden Lion. Diwan “Happening” also has four nominations. as the Cannes Palme d’Or winner “Titane,” directed by Julia Ducournau.

Screenwriter and director Danièle Thompson is set to host the César Awards on February 25 in Paris. Cate Blanchett will also be recognized with an honorary César.
