A popular condiment sold nationwide has been recalled over salmonella fears.

Ceres Organics Organic Peeled & Unpeeled Tahini 300g has been recalled due to possible bacterial contamination.

The products were available at Woolworths in NSW, independent food retailers in NSW and Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia, Queensland and ACT, and online nationwide.

The affected products have expiration dates of May 25, 2023; Aug 22, 2023; and August 1, 2024 for shelled tahini and May 25, 2023 and August 22, 2023 for unshelled.

Food contaminated with salmonella can make you sick if eaten.

“Consumers should not eat this product,” Food Standards Australia New Zealand warned.

Salmonella symptoms include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps and can appear six hours to six days after infection.

Recalled goods may be returned to the point of sale for a full refund.
