Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka was doused by an excited locker room Celtics, but he was quick to remind them that no banner had been hung yet.
When big games are won, coaches are the ones who can expect to be immersed. Whether it’s water or sports drinks, players show their appreciation by showering drinks on their coach in celebration of victory. Despite a thrilling last-minute Eastern Conference clinch in Game 7, Celtics head coach Ime Udoka still isn’t ready to be showered with praise.
The Boston Celtics shared a post-game look inside the Celtics locker room where Udoka was both celebrated and revered during a motivational speech.
“We’ve done that with the water bottle before,” Udoka said as his players drew closer.
“Fuck it!” they scream as they pour water over Udoka again.
Laughing and drenched, Udoka reminds his side that the Celtics don’t celebrate mediocrity.
“First of all, we don’t hang banners for Eastern Conference championships in this organization,” Udoka said.
Almost every NBA team except for the two most successful franchises – the Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers – hangs banners for division and conference championship wins.
“The water celebrations are not necessary – we have bigger plans,” said Udoka.

“Still, a hell of a job,” Udoka said to his dressing room as Jaylen Brown held the Eastern Conference Championship trophy in his hand. “There’s so many people that obviously have to be shouted at, but what we’re good at – turnovers, rebounds – all the things that hurt us in certain games, we did in the game. Big block shot, big rebounds, two shots it ices… we could go down the list. rob [Williams III] play through pain.”
“Who are we? Street Fighters,” continued Udoka. “We’ve been doing this all year, had to make it interesting. It would have been nice to do it at home, but it’s even sweeter to do it up your ass on the go.” “
The Celtics came out with one Narrow win in Game 7 At 100-96, NBA fans were wondering: does anyone want to win in the heat? except Jimmy Butler? Though it’s a heartbreaking end to Butler’s impeccable postseason campaign, it’s just the beginning for the Celtics when they meet the Warriors in the NBA Finals.
