Celtics get promising health update ahead of Monday’s game against Rockets

Good news for the Boston Celtics in terms of injuries: Jaylen Brown and Robert Williams both got upgrades ahead of Monday’s home game against the Houston Rockets.

Brown is listed as “Available” on the team’s latest health update, via Twitter. Williams was listed as “MAY” on Sunday and remained so on Monday.

So it looks like Brown will be back on Monday against Houston. Brown has missed the last eight games in a row because of a hamstring injury. The Celtics won 5-3 without him in that span, giving them an 8-9 record against the Rockets.

Williams has been sidelined for three consecutive games with a knee injury. The new “probable” designation is a promising sign of the possibility that he will return at some point during Thanksgiving week.

Point guard Dennis Schröder is also “MAY” for Monday’s game. He has been listed with a sprained ankle for three games in a row, but is yet to miss a game this season. He has stepped up the scoreboard in Brown’s absence, averaging 22.1 points in his last eight games.

Romeo Langford is listed as “available” with an ankle. He only played 7:51 on Saturday against the Thunder. For those less likely to compete, Josh Richardson is listed as “problematic” with a non-COVID-related illness.

The Celtics and Rockets are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday night at TD Garden. You can get the game’s call on 98.5 The Sports Hub, starting with the pregame at 7. Here’s the full schedule.
