Cavaliers All-Star Jarrett Allen will play the team’s elimination play-in tournament game against the Atlanta Hawks Friday, Cleveland announced. Allen, who has been out since early March with a broken finger, was listed as questionable for the game on Cleveland’s injury report earlier in the day.
Allen sustained the injury on March 6 in the Cavaliers’ game against the Toronto Raptors. The center initially left the game with a quadriceps bruise, then a left middle finger fracture was also diagnosed.
Allen averaged 16.3 points, 10.9 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 55 games before the injury.
When asked about Allen’s status at Thursday’s practice, Cavs coach JB Bickerstaff said the team had not ruled out or excluded anyone for Friday.
Cleveland, ranked No. 8 after the regular season, lost its first play-in game to the Nets on Tuesday. With a win on Friday, the Cavaliers would take on No. 1 Miami in the first round of the playoffs — and be eliminated with a loss.
