Casey Close Threatens to Sue Sports Radio Host Doug Gottlieb for Misleading ‘False’ Facts FirstSportz

When Freddie Freeman returned to Atlanta Braves while firing his former agent Casey Close, many expected the latter to be the main reason he was forced to adjust his life as a Dodger. Given that MLBPA has notified all agents not to speak to Freddie, the sports radio host, for the time being Doug Gottlieb was quick to get bossy about the matter.
To draw everyone’s attention to the backstory, Doug claimed that Casey Close misled the canceled free-hand player and forced him to withdraw from Braves. Upon learning that the same Freeman dropped Casey as his agent. At the same time, it seems Casey Close has had enough of sports media personalities spreading misinformation and has decided to take action. According to ESPN, Close then sued Gottlieb for defamation.
Jeff Passan explained in his tweets: “Agent Casey Close sued radio host Doug Gottlieb for defamation on Thursday, alleging in a complaint that Gottlieb defamed him and Excel Sports Management in a tweet regarding Dodgers star Freddie Freeman’s contract negotiations, according to court documents obtained by ESPN.”

Casey Close is determined to teach Doug Gottlieb a lesson
When Doug made the particular claim, Close was quick to defend his stance. He revealed that there was transparent communication between him and Freeman. Additionally, the decision to join the LA Dodgers rested squarely with the player and was never a “selfish” decision.
To address this, Casey Close also called out the Atlanta Braves for what he believed to be false narrative surrounding Freddie Freeman’s negotiations. Safe to say, it feels like a lot of finger pointing. But Close is determined to hold all “culprits” accountable for spreading unwanted information about him or his work.

Given that there must be immense drama in this move that took place months ago, this is a lesson indeed for Freeman and future free agents. It is important to make the end goal clear to those who represent them. There are no two ways to show that if Freeman wanted to stay in Atlanta, he should have made that clear to his agency.
