Carlos Sainz clearly emerges as the fastest driver with the best sector times and fastest lap of the race » FirstSportz

Carlos Sainz drove a mega race for Ferrari after starting from the back of the grid and this is very evident in the sector times he achieved throughout the race.
Carlos Sainz had the fastest sector times and was also able to set the fastest lap on Paul Ricard’s 3.630-mile circuit. The Spaniard’s applauding push from P20 to P5 was epic considering his teammate Charles Leclerc failed to finish the race after crashing into the guardrail on lap 18.
Sainz was fastest in all three sectors where he posted times of 24.221, 29.237 and 42.002. Also, Sainz’s fastest lap time was 1:35:781, which was just too good for the rest driver.
Carlos Sainz took a penalty in France that pushed him to the back of the grid but despite the setback he brought an absolute change for the Ferrari team and could have possibly finished on the podiums had he been put on a better race strategy.

Carlos Sainz did some damage control for Ferrari in the constructors’ championship
Charles Leclerc was retired from the French Grand Prix after lap 18 and his hopes of closing the gap on Max Verstappen were put to bed. However, Carlos Sainz’s P5 finish helped the team achieve damage control in the Constructors’ Championship.
After France, Ferrari sit on 314 points in the championship while Red Bull have extended their lead and now have a whopping 396 points in their pockets.
There are still 10 races to go in the 2022 Formula 1 season and given the unpredictability of the sport anything is possible who knows if Ferrari can put up a decent number of performances in the upcoming races then they might get back in the hunt both championships.
At the moment the atmosphere in the Ferrari camp is bleak and now it’s up to them to pull themselves together as the next race is in Hungary in a week.
