Carlos Correa returns to the Astros suddenly with a new life

For a while, it looked like Carlos Correa would leave the Astros as a free agent but Houston has now returned to discussions with the star.
The Astros not giving up on keeping Carlos Correa in Houston.
Despite serious interest from potential and the shortstop reported selling his house, Houston is still not out of the race. They just reopened discussions with shortstop, per Fox 26’s Mark Berman.
“Our team has reached out to his agent. We’re in discussions,” owner Jim Crane told Berman this week.
Astros can still re-sign Carlos Correa
Correa is said to be interested in a contract worth more than $300 million over 10 years. Corey Seager is signed to Rangers for 10 years and $325 million, so there’s a short-term goal to pursue.
There have been rumors of the Astros offering a shorter contract to Correa for $160 million over five years. He’ll be making $32 million a year, which will put him close to Seager, but the length of the contract definitely limits how much he’s locked into getting.
According to ESPN’s Buster OlneyCorrea turned down a 10-year $275 million offer from the Tigers.
On the one hand, it proves there are teams out there trying to give Correa that long-term deal. However, a figure below $300 million could be a good sign for the Astros.
If Correa’s ultimate goal is to hit that milestone but another team doesn’t accept an offer of that caliber, he could be persuaded to re-sign with Houston and try again for his big payday later.

Once the deal is revealed, Bob Nightengale tweeted that the transaction “shows that the #Yankees are sticking to their plans and have no intention of signing free agent Carlos Correa or Trevor Story.”
The more teams that exit the race for Correa, the more likely he is to stay.
