Cardinals should replace Jon Lester with this free agent

With Jon Lester officially announcing his retirement earlier this week, the St. Louis should contact JA Happ.

The MLB community has been honored Jon Lester throughout the week and for good reason. After an unsuccessful career in a major career, the left has decided to hang up his shoes. He ended it all with the Cardinals in 2021.

Now, St. Louis will be looking to replace him in the 2022 rotation. So which free agent will make the most sense for the NL Central club leading up to spring training. Well, what about left-handed friend JA Happ.

JA Happ signing with the Cardinals will be very meaningful

Happ has had 15 years of MLB experience under him. While he was not expected to come onto the field and become the trump card for St.

Last season, Happ matched the Card, making 11 starts for the team. During that time, he posted a 5-2 record and 4.00 ERA. The ERA was a bit high, but the man got the job done when his number was called by manager Mike Shildt. Of course, Shildt was sacked after the 2021 season, so now new captain Oliver Marmol must try to get this team back on track to progress to a deep playoff round.

With spring training closer and closer, St. Louis will need to work on some points and complete some new signings. With Happ not actually affiliated with another team, it could open the door for a downward reunion. Again, Happ won’t be named the #1 guy for St. Cardinals should replace Jon Lester with this free agent
