Capital’s Joe Snively: “I’ll try to stick to my strengths and try to help the team win if I’m in the squad”

On Sunday, Washington Capitals forward Joe Snively speaks to the media later morning skating before their tilt against the Los Angeles Kings at Capital One Arena (7 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Washington, ESPN+). Herndon, Virginia, native discussion Called back from AHL’s Hershey Bears this morning and potentially his NHL debut tonight.
Snively said he was “delighted to have the opportunity to play” after receiving the news. “I come from this area and I was successful, so [kids from the DMV] maybe..just try to set an example for them. ”
Family, friends and even some youth coaches will be in attendance tonight. Trained seriously at MedStar Capitals Iceplex in his youth and a participant in Washington’s Little Caps program.
He also noted that his solid start at Hershey this season has “built confidence”. Snively has scored 22 points (8g, 14a) in 21 games against the Bears and leads the team in points and leads in goals. 25 years old also score a hat trick on November 7 in the team’s 5-3 win over the Springfield Thunderbirds.

“It will be thrilling [and] maybe a little bit nervous… the adrenaline will definitely go up,” he said of his possible debut. Snively explained that he feels comfortable having played pre-season games for the Capitals.
Several of his teammates from Hershey are on the squad, and Snively says it’s “nice to have some familiar faces and friends.” There was a lot of excitement and support among the young players as they prepared for their first NHL game and scored the first points and goals of their careers.
“Maybe another NHL game with the AHL, but I will try to play to my strengths and try to help the team win if I am in the squad.
I’m from the area and I’ve been successful, so [kids from the DMV] Maybe. Just try to set an example for them.”
