Can you skip the Gran Turismo 7 intro?

If you’ve just bought the long-awaited Gran Turismo 7, you might have the impression that Polyphony Digital doesn’t think it’s been awaited long enough. As if being forced to play in Music Rally Mode was not enough, if you select world map, you will not be dealt with the world map immediately. In fact, not nearly immediately. Instead, you have to sit through a lengthy opening credit sequence that describes the entire history of the automobile Real time (It feels like).

But when the credits stop rolling and the graphics switch to the game engine, it’s time to wait quiet not over. You then have to watch a montage of high-speed racing action while a synthetic rock guitar howls in the background. The two combined sequences last in total 9 minutes and you can’t skip any of it. We have tried everything. Any combination of pressing and holding keys. Nothing worked. We even tried holding down the PS button to exit and restart the game. But it knew we hadn’t watched the intro in full at least once, so we still couldn’t skip it.

The good news is that after the first time you can skip the intro by pressing any key. And you can even prevent it from ever starting again. From the world map screen, go to the GT menu at the top left of the screen and select Options. The first option on the options screen (it’s like you knew it!) is to stop playing the opening movie at launch. Unfortunately, there is no way to access this option In front it plays through for the first time.
