Can you catch a shiny Lugia in Pokémon Go? – March 28, 2023

Defeating Lugia during a five-star raid in Pokémon Go brings several rewards. Not only do you get everything you normally get after completing a five-star raid, but you also have the option to loot a Lugia and add it to your collection. They’re a powerful legendary Pokemon, and there’s always a chance that Lugia’s shiny form will appear, but not always. Can you catch a shiny Lugia in Pokémon Go? Here’s what you need to know.

Does Lugia have a shiny version in Pokémon Go?

Right now, during the last five-star raids that took place in late March 2023 during the Rising Heroes season, we can confirm that Lugia has a chance to appear in five-star raids in its shiny form. Lugia will appear in these five-star raids from March 28th to April 10th. This should give players more than a week to defeat this legendary Pokemon, as well as multiple opportunities to work with other trainers to capture it.

Unfortunately, like any shiny version, Lugia won’t always appear in this form. There’s a small chance this will happen after completing a five-star raid, but it’s not guaranteed. Even if you complete this raid and defeat Lugia along with other players, not every participant will get a shiny encounter, even if a player realizes they were lucky enough to find one.

These raids will start on March 28th at 10am in your local time zone. You have until April 10th to potentially encounter a Shiny Lugia before a new series of five-star raids arrive. However, to increase your chances, there are Raid Hours on March 29th and April 5th for increased chances of fighting Lugia and potentially finding that shiny version.
