According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Payton has yet to commit to the team to return as head coach. If Payton left town, Denver certainly wouldn’t waste time contacting him.

Future Uncertain for Sean Payton and Aaron Rodgers

After firing Vic Fangio, Denver is in need of a new head coach. Enter Payton? First, we’ll need to see if he makes it back to New Orleans. If he doesn’t, a move to Denver would make a lot of sense. Oh, what about Aaron Rodgers?

After a heartbreaking loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, no one knows what will happen to Rodgers this season. Green Bay is off-limits for next season, and Rodgers has made it clear he doesn’t want to be involved in the rebuilding. On top of that, the general feeling is that this will also be his last year with the Packers.

If he succeeds, imagine John Elway calling him and selling him when he moves to Denver. If Payton goes there, of course that would make the deal sweeter. Right now, this may just be a pipe dream for Broncos supporters. If Payton and Rodgers join the Broncos, oh my gosh, it will be horrifying news for the AFC Western team.
