The dash cam of a police cruiser captured the incredible footage, not to mention some panes of glass, as this vehicle was hit by a running tire down a Pennsylvania road. in this week.
“The officers were taken by surprise when a pickup truck going west lost its wheel/tire and crashed into the patrol unit the officers were sitting in,” the department wrote in the clip. “Fortunately, the tire hit the cruiser and then shot up into the sky on the opposite side of the road instead of going into the opposite lane and hitting a vehicle moving in the other direction.”
Police said that although the cruiser “suffered some serious damage” no one was injured in the out-of-control tire incident.
The video shows the tire darting out in the distance and rapidly aiming straight at the car’s windshield during its final big bounce.
When a tire occurs, it not only shatters the windshield, but also splashes the dashcam.
The first-person view of the clip is starting (pun intended) and looks like one of those movie opening scenes, where they freeze the frame just before the moment of impact and the narrator exclaims with “can you wonder how I got here.”
