Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will have a Grand Prix map for you to try out in the multiplayer beta

We know that the first beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will start on September 16th, but that leaves us with a lot of questions over the course of the next month and changes. For example, what maps will be included in the beta? We know at least one, and it’s a brand new idea for the series.

Marina Bay Grand Prix is a new 6v6 map for Modern Warfare 2 and a racetrack. This is the first map of its kind in the Call of Duty series – the Verdansk karting track was previously the next. Thanks to a new flythrough video, we’re able to get a great overview of the place. The circuit itself has the sights you would expect: we can see pit stops, garages and a hall with a souvenir shop. Cars speed along the track, which could pose potential instant kill hazards for any operator who does not look both ways before crossing. There also appears to be some sort of amusement area with a Ferris wheel next to the track, although it’s not clear how much of that is just background decoration for the main map. Anyhow, it looks like an exciting addition to the multiplayer roster and will be ready for its first matches in the Modern Warfare 2 beta.

Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer reveal will air on September 15, the day before the beta begins. We’re already aware of quite a few multiplayer modes that will be included in the game, so it will be good to learn more next month.

The Modern Warfare 2 full game release date is October 28th. Pre-orders for this year’s Call of Duty title are open now, and if you put your money down, you’ll get early access to the beta in September. The Vault Edition also includes a number of additional bonuses, such as the Red Team 141 Operator Pack and the Season 1 Battle Pass with 50 Tier Skips.
