The wait for Caleb Williams to choose his transfer destination stretched on Tuesday with some new information stirring things up.

The former Oklahoma quarterback, who has reportedly narrowed his options for LSU and USC, is considering another surprise pick from the Big 10.

Wisconsin is vying for Williams’ transfer, by Gerry Hamilton of On3.

The Badgers have Graham Mertz back from 1,958 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 2021. Williams is far ahead of him as a promising midfielder so it’s safe to say his arrival will come with it. with a starter contract open to him.

There is a clear link between Williams and Wisconsin. Head coach Paul Chryst is reported is on track to hire Ravens coach Bobby Engram as offensive coordinator. Engram’s son, Dean, is a defender on the team. He was Williams’ high school teammate.

Williams’ father pointed to the growth of the NFL as a key factor in the quarterback making his decisions. Although Engram has no experience developing NFL quarterbacks, he comes directly from the pros.

USC is in a precarious position with Williams because the deadline to enroll for the spring semester is January 28. If he doesn’t choose Trojan by then he won’t be able to attend Spring Camp.

Wisconsin classes begin this week but the nine-week enrollment deadline in theory allows Williams to delay the decision to the end of March.
