BYU vs San Francisco Prediction and Odds (Trust Dons as a Favorite)

The 23-8 San Francisco Dons clinched a 14-point win over BYU last month and are targeting a second straight win when they defeat the 22-9 Cougars in the quarterfinal round of the WCC tournament tonight at 7:30 p.m. PST receive.

BYU also picked up a road win over San Francisco this year, winning six out of seven. Can they pull off a second win or will the Dons overpower the Cougars?

Let’s have a look the odds at WynnBET:

money line:

In total:

The Dons have won and covered four of six, with their losses benefiting Gonzaga and Saint Mary’s, class of the conference. They’re a balanced roster with the 37th best adjusted offense efficiency and 21st defense in the country according to Bart Torvik. They rebound well and are adept at scoring inside but defending the outside space.

They need that perimeter defense against a BYU attack that’s in the 99th percentile three-point shooting percentage over their last five. In fact, the Cougars have jumped from the 70th to the 98th percentile in offensive rating in their last five games, despite those games being against a vastly inferior competition they will see today.

San Francisco also ranks in the 99th percentile in three-point shooting among those last five, but they’ve played in far superior competition. I think their success is more likely to carry over, and I like the value we’re getting on the Dons against a BYU defense that’s been doing a terrible job of making offense uncomfortable lately.

In their last five games, BYU ranks in the 3rd percentile for steal percentage and 1st percentile for block percentage, so they don’t bother attacks at all. That should come back to bite them against a Dons offense that’s in the 88th percentile of effective field goal percentage on the season.

I’m in San Francisco to cover as a favorite in their fifth episode and win the season series against the Cougars.

Choice: San Francisco -3 (-110)
