Deshaun Watson has decided that he will not take his talent to Northeast Ohio.
Watson, who has been holding meetings with various teams over the past few days, informed the Cleveland Browns that he will not be giving up the no-trade clause to join their team.
He has also ruled out going to the Seattle Seahawks, which makes the Carolina Panthers and New Orleans Saints the top two contenders to land him. Watson had a second meeting with New Orleans late Wednesday night, according to Saints reporter Nick Underhill.
The Panthers have been mentioned as one of the top teams to land Watson in this whole process, but they seem to be falling behind.
With the Saints looking like favorites to land Watson, now would be the time to buy low on Saints Super Bowl odds. WynnBET currently the Saints odds to win all are +4000. If New Orleans gets a 26-year-old Pro Bowl quarterback, the Saints are bound to increase the odds.
In 2020, Watson threw more than 4,800 yards, 33 touchdowns and just 7 interceptions. He’s a clear upgrade over Jameis Winston, Trevor Siemian and Ian Book – who together led The Saints to a 9-8 record. Watson’s presence puts New Orleans in a competitive position in an open NFC and in one of the weaker divisions in the league.
NFC South will remain with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tom Brady is back and will immediately raise the Bucs ceiling, even as some members of the 2020 Super Bowl team have now moved on.
We’ve seen the Broncos, Buccaneers and Packers odds increase after securing a defender for this season. If Watson ends up in the Big Easy, the value can disappear immediately.
