Delezio, 22, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday: “Forever with you” and added an engagement ring emoji.

Speaking to The Australian Women’s Weekly, Delezio said her whole family knew Salerno, 23, would pop the question on Valentine’s Day – but managed to keep her lips shut.

“I had no idea,” she said.

“Funnily enough, the week before I got a heart drawn on one of my nails and joked that it might give Joseph the clue!

“I had so little guessed what he had planned.”

Delezio and Salerno were good friends for years before dating.

Salerno told the outlet he knew what a strong person she was from the moment he met her when they were both 9th graders.

“Strong, confident and generous, those three words best describe Sophie,” he said.

“I see that when I’m with her.”

Delezio was seriously injured and suffered severe burns when a car crashed into her Sydney daycare center in 2003 when she was just two years old.

In a second devastating accident, she was hit by a car near her home in 2006 at the age of five.

Delezio grew up with the whole of Australia behind her as they watched her make a remarkable recovery from both of those shocking incidents.

She and Salerno became a couple during the COVID pandemic in 2021.

Last year they traveled the world together before Salerno popped the question on February 14.

Salerno began compiling a scrapbook of their travels before presenting it to Delezio on Valentine’s Day.

“She turned to me and I was on one knee screaming,” he told Australian Woman’s Weekly.

“Our favorite song is ‘Be My Baby’ so I just asked if Sophie would like to be my baby and luckily she ticked the box on the back of the scrapbook that said yes.”

A date for the wedding has not yet been set, but news of the engagement sent Delezio’s social media followers into a frenzy.

“Wonderful!” one follower was delighted.

“Congratulations to you both. Such wonderful news,” added another.

“This makes me so happy,” wrote a third.
