Bryan Barberena arrives in Las Vegas with no idea who (or if) he’s going to fight at UFC Vegas 44 (Updated)

Bryan Barberena is set to face Matt Brown in what is sure to be a highly entertaining Welterweight title fight this Saturday (December 4, 2021) at UFC Vegas 44 in Las Vegas, Nevada. But as luck would have it, Brown was forced to leave the fight after tested positive for COVID-19, leaving “Bam Bam” without an opponent.
News of the cancellation came seven days ago and the UFC hasn’t given Barberena any indication that they will have a suitable replacement so he remains on the card. Undeterred, Barberena is still on her way to the “Sin City” without knowing who – or if – he will be fighting this weekend.
That’s according to MMA reporter Alex Behunin who got it from “Bam Bam” who said he would fight anyone as long as he could compete.
Barberena is hoping to bounce back from suffering a tough loss at the hands of Jason Witt earlier this year, his third loss in the last four outs inside the Octagon. Despite her recent woes, Barberena has never been one to shy away from a fight, facing some of the best the £170 division has to offer including Colby Covington, Leon Edwards and Vicente Luque.
Now, all “Bam Bam” can do is hope promotions can find him a rival willing to take on the challenge in less than a week. One might think, however, that UFC matchmakers will give Barberena and his team some sort of info on whether they have someone ready to step in before he makes the trip. .
UPDATE:
Darian Weeks – who is winning 5-0 as a pro – has agreed to face Barberena at short notice on his UFC debut.
