Bruce Dern Wants To Join ‘Jackass Forever’

The fourth “Jackass” movie had plenty of celebrities starring in it, but almost missed out on another Oscar nomination.

From Oscar nominations for “Coming Home” and “Nebraska” to frequent collaborations with Quentin Tarantino, Bruce Dern accomplished a great deal during his six-decade Hollywood career. But one achievement still eludes him: appearing in a movie “Jackass”. As it turns out, the legendary actor was recently trying to fix that, reaching out to Johnny Knoxville about a potential guest in “Jackass Forever. ”

During an appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” this week, Knoxville said with shock that Dern’s reps have reached out to him to express the “Nebraska” star’s interest in the “Jackass” franchise. While Knoxville said he would love to cast Dern, the timing was unfortunately not right, as “Jackass Forever” had ended production at the time.

“Bruce Dern contacted us – someone contacted us [saying] Bruce Dern wants to join Jackass. I–we would love Bruce Dern to be in Jackass, but now we’re done filming,” Knoxville said.

While Bruce Dern would be a worthy addition to any film, “Jackass” fans need not worry about the lack of guest stars in the upcoming film. Johnny Knoxville and his crew have assembled a line-up of star-studded guest stars, with Eric Andre, Shaquille O’Neal, Tony Hawk and Machine Gun Kelly set to appear in the latest film for for men who injure themselves. They feature the cast of longtime “Jackass” Steve-O, Chris Pontius, and Jason “Wee Man” Acuña. Comedian Rachel Wolfson also joined the cast, making history as the first female member of “Jackass.”

And there may still be hope for Bruce Dern’s “Jackass” dreams. While Knoxville has previously been adamant that “Jackass Forever” will mark the end of the franchise, he recently signaled that he’s open to making another movie. “After one, we said we wouldn’t do another. After twice, we said the same,” he say. “So I don’t know about a fifth. We can, we can’t. If the stuntman decides to make a fifth movie, expect Bruce Dern to be one of his first calls.
