Browns work on former first-round pick while awaiting Deshaun Watson’s decision

In anticipation of the NFL’s suspension of Deshaun Watson, the Cleveland Browns are working on some surprise quarterbacks to bolster their 2022 roster.
Nobody in the NFL seems to want to let go of a first-round pick, certainly not a quarterback.
Even if the Arizona Cardinals have long distanced themselves from Josh Rosen, it proves their monumental work Extension of Kyler Murray by 5 yearsthe rest of the NFL is still anxious to see if Rosen can produce behind the line.
Rosen, the acclaimed UCLA star and the No. 10 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, has moved through four different NFL franchises since the Cardinals fired him after his rookie season.
Even so, it looks like Rosen is still being tipped off as a potential replacement for the Cleveland Browns, one who could potentially see time on the field if Deshaun Watson will be banned by the league.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Browns also train journeyman AJ McCarron ahead of camp.

Unfortunately, Rosen didn’t exactly put together a solid resume during his time with the Atlanta Falcons in 2021. In a game that wrote history books for the wrong reasonsRosen threw an interception on his third snap during a 25-0 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 11.
All in all, Rosen played and won four games last season only two degrees of 11 attempts. Rosen averaged 19 yards on those passes, and worse, he had the same number of completed passes as interceptions: just two.
For Rosen, the Browns offer him another opportunity to find his feet in the NFL and dig into a roster (and hopefully get more than two passes through the year). But the frustrating part of Rosen’s story is that despite his many chances, NFL teams are reluctant to give up a first-round pick. Even when they fail repeatedly, many former first-rounders are given second, third, and fourth chances that later and undrafted players never see.
Honestly Rosen and McCarron and anyone else that can be signed instead is just insurance if Jacoby Brissett falls out in the first half of the season.
