Former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher has had a successful career in the NFL, and his son appears to be following the same path to stardom.
Though college is several years away for Kennedy Urlacher, he’s already expected to uphold the mantle created by his Hall of Famer father, Brian Urlacher, as the Chicago Bears’ legendary linebacker.
Kennedy is expected to graduate high school in 2024, but the 6-foot, 185-pound player is already being noticed by college recruiters and professional recruiting analysts.
Kennedy is currently a sophomore of high school and has received offers from three different colleges in Arizona and New Mexico. Kennedy was also noticed by CBS Sports recruiting analyst Tom Lemming, who described him as a “student of the game with good range and instincts.”
Kennedy Urlacher is an aspiring young player who, like his father, is predicted to have a successful career in the NFL. Kennedy’s career is already beginning to mirror Brian’s. Brian played college football for the University of New Mexico, and there’s a good chance his son will do the same.
Son of Bears legend Brian Urlacher is already a favorite to recruit
Brian achieved a lot during his 13-year NFL career as one of the best defensive players in Bears history. During his historic NFL career, Brian was “the first player in franchise history to throw a 90+ yard touchdown and an 80+ yard interception for a score.” Brian is also known for “leading the team in 2000 in sacks, in interceptions in 2007 and in tackles in eight of his 13 seasons in the league”. Brian was also a perennial favorite in the Pro Bowl, making the popular game eight times during his career. As one of the premier linebackers of his day, Brian was named to the NFL All-Decade Team of the 2000s.
Kennedy is outstanding in high school football with 46 total tackles in just two years. Half of his tackles have been solo and he averages 4.2 tackles per game. He’ll probably only get better as he nears college.
Brian Urlacher is undoubtedly one of the most dominant players in NFL history, and his son is showing the potential to be just as formidable on defense.
