New York Mets prospect Brett Baty found a way to immediately impress the team when he homed in his first MLB at-bat.

That New York Mets have recently shown they could be legitimate contenders for the World Series, particularly after shutting out the Philadelphia Phillies in the final two games of their three-game streak last weekend. That and the Mets brought back Jacob deGrom, who is in his usual dominant form. How could things get better for the Mets, you ask?

Brett Baty, the team’s No. 2 farm system player, made his debut with the team on August 17 against rival Atlanta Braves. In the top of the second inning, Baty entered the batter’s box for the first time as an MLB player and sent a baseball flying over the right field wall at Truist Park with a two-run homer!

Baty had been in the news this week as reports suggested the team wanted to call him up as Luis Guillorme was sidelined with a groin injury. He wasn’t promoted immediately, but he was finally got the call. The move was made official on Wednesday, where it was announced that he would start at third base.

Baty, one of New York’s top contenders, was extremely successful in both double- and triple-A. In 95 games, Baty has undercut .315/.410/.533 while recording 19 homers, 60 RBI, 76 runs scored and 114 hits.
