Braybrook fire leaves one man dead, another seriously as the cause of the police investigation

One man is dead and another is in serious condition after a fire destroyed a home in west Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to Winjeel Ct in Braybrook just before 9am on Friday after the large fire broke out.

Two people were in the home at the time and were both pulled out by firefighters.

They were treated at the scene by paramedics and a 76-year-old man from Braybrook was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Another man, 42, also from Braybrook, could not be rescued and died at the scene.

The exact circumstances of the fire have yet to be determined and the arson will investigate.

The house where the fire started was completely burned out, the ceiling removed and the structure of the house burned down.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the police.
