After two off-seasons, the cast of Vanderpump Rules has promised a fresh start in Season 10.
“I hope that people who kind of fell off and stopped watching when we were having growing pains in seasons 8 and 9 will come back because it’s going to be an amazing season,” teased Lala Kent.
“We’re not in our 20s anymore. We’re grown adults and we go through divorces to have kids, it’s just a different game,” she added. “You’re going to see the first person I’ve dated since my last relationship on ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ which was weird. I’m looking at cameras and I’m like, ‘The boy is here, I want to take him to the bedroom… What am I doing?’ out of body experience.”
“I feel like the old show is back,” Scheana Shay reiterated, already looking to the future. “I think we’re set for an 11th season.”
“This is a whole new landscape for ‘VPR’. It’s like a ‘VPR’ reset,” said Tom Schwartz, whose divorce from Katie Maloney was finalized this week. “Two people just got out of engagements. I got out of a marriage. Twelve years together. I’m rediscovering how I can be Tom Schwartz.”
Rumors have been swirling around the internet for months that Schwartz and castmate Raquel Leviss are in a romantic relationship, but she stayed mum on the matter. “I know a lot of stories are coming out about me, but I just don’t want to talk about it too much because I think it’s important to really see how things are going. I stand by every decision I’ve made this season and you have to see that.”
Ariana Madix warned against believing rumors: “The internet isn’t always right about what’s going on. I feel like sometimes people see one thing and think they know, but they have no idea.”
Crystal Minkoff on being dubbed a ‘dramatic millennial’ by ‘RHOBH’ castmates: ‘Suck My Balls’
During the first part of the three-part reunion of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Crystal Kung Minkoff attempted to explain the drama surrounding the story that 14 of her friends had cut ties with her. However, Kyle Richards questioned Minkoff’s choice of words several times, and viewers learned nothing new about the situation.
Given the opportunity to share her side of the story, Minkoff dismissed Richard’s interruption: “When people try to get you, it always leads into the semantics and not the actual content.”
“It was a difficult situation,” she says of losing part of her social circle. “I was asked to do a show and before I started I had some friends who weren’t that supportive and that’s okay. That wasn’t okay then. It was hard. But that was a few years ago now. It’s weird to bring it up – talking about random things from a few years ago instead of talking about your own problems.
While Minkoff said she’s “all about quality now, not quantity,” she revealed that the much-discussed number 14 isn’t really accurate. She says the misunderstandings stemmed from having lunch with Lisa Rinna. When asked about their relationships, she recalls casually saying, “It’s like 14 people.”
“I just came up with this random number. Actually, there are four,” she clarifies. “I don’t care about this number anymore. It is what it is.”
As for the “dramatic millennial” label, Minkoff thinks some of the women frustrated her because she’s 39. “I think these girls don’t necessarily hang out with younger girls,” she says. She was criticized by some castmates for using the word “hurt” to describe a moment when Sutton Stracke walked in on her naked, but Minkoff stands by it.
“You are so narrow-minded. They cannot think outside of their own experience… Getting a parking ticket is an infraction. I don’t think it’s sexual that you didn’t pay your meter, but it’s a violation. That’s what the term means!”
“I think it’s like you can’t teach old dogs new tricks,” she jokes of her older co-stars. “I’ve worked so hard to try to make people understand. And I guess that’s my lesson: I can’t change someone’s politics, right? ‘Cause you can’t change mine At some point it will be like this where I stand: very liberal. You don’t make me a trumper no matter what you say. So I guess this is where I need to be. That’s how I feel. If you don’t want to take it, suck it. Is this a millennial thing? Suck my balls, I don’t care.”
Stracke also spoke about the apparent chasm between the new cast members and the so-called “OGs,” particularly when it came to the group not speaking up for them when Diana Jenkins had some choice words for them in Aspen. “That scene and Aspen was really hard for me to look back on. I didn’t want to see it,” Stracke said diversity. “I didn’t see myself as myself. So that was hard.”
Still, Stracke says she’d love to return to the franchise next season — and thinks “we’d all come back” — though she hasn’t gotten the call yet. “I don’t know if I’ll come back. We don’t know yet,” she said. “But I would hope that next season, whether I’m in it or not, we don’t see the merger because no one wants to see that.”
Meanwhile, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais opened up about the difficult time her family was going through after her 14-year-old son Jax Nilon was the subject of targeted online harassment by Instagram bots.
“That was the hardest, hardest thing for me. Because that’s my kid,” she said diversity. “I signed up for the show. He didn’t, which I’m glad he said when he wrote his statement.”
Beauvais praised her son’s maturity and resilience in the statement, adding: “When I read it, I sat down because at 14 I didn’t have the means to say how I felt, to express myself. I was really, really proud of him.”
The search for those behind the bullying continues: “I hired a forensic investigator to find out what’s going on. It’s just not okay.”
Just this week, RHOBH cast member Diana Jenkins filed a harassment lawsuit. The defendant is being identified as John Doe “because Ms. Jenkins is not yet aware of the identities of the individuals behind the attack,” a statement said.
When asked if Jenkins has reached out, Beauvais laughs. “No no.”
During the “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” panel later Friday, Lisa Rinna was greeted by a cacophony of boos. Rinna has come under fire for her ongoing feud with Kathy Hilton, who has accused her of saying devastating things about the cast during her time at Aspen, though she has yet to reveal the content of their conversations. However, there were reports that Hilton said a homophobic slur after a club DJ refused to play Michael Jackson. When later asked if she had been booed, Rinna told a group of reporters, “We’re No. 1 on cable and television, and I’m a fucking rock star.”
Erika Jayne, who has been the subject of ongoing controversy due to her legal troubles, was also implicated in the Hilton drama when Kyle Richards claimed that Jayne’s publicist was the one who leaked the allegations to the press. In response to that claim, Jayne said diversity: “No, but here is the thing. This part of the story distracts from what really happened. What happens after that doesn’t really matter. The story is what happened in Aspen, so I leave it to you.”
Vicki Gunvalson directed “Couple Scenes” for “RHOC” but did not return
Despite rumors that former ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ star Vicki Gunvalson is returning to the show, she insisted at BravoCon on Friday that she won’t be returning as a cast member or friend of – although she did film some scenes.
“I’m not a cast member, I’m not a friend of,” Gunvalson said diversity. “I definitely shot a few scenes.”
During an Ultimate Girls Trip panel diversity‘s Elizabeth Wagmeister, who hosted, asked producers if Gunvalson is joining “Orange County.” Alfonso Rosales, co-executive producer of Ultimate Girls Trip, said he doesn’t think she will join as a full-time cast member. A source tells diversity that she doesn’t actually join as a full-time actress or as a friend of the housewives — but that she did film a few cameos, including a lunchtime scene.
Gunvalson was reportedly spotted at a Laguna Beach restaurant in late September while filming the new season of The Real Housewives of Orange County, starring Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador. Both Judge and Taylor Armstrong, who Gunvalson dated in the final season of Ultimate Girls Trip, are returning to the franchise for the upcoming season. But Gunvalson, who left the show in January 2020, said she doesn’t know how much she’s adjusting to the new season.
“I don’t know. I’m not a big TV viewer but I’m sure I’ll tune in,” Gunvalson said. “I’m very busy but I’m sure I’ll be supporting the girls.”
