Brave’s new trade supplement comes just in time for the crucial Mets series

The Braves traded to add relief pitcher Raisel Iglesias, and he comes at the perfect time to help out during a critical series with the Mets.
Just a few days ago Raisel Iglesias was living in Los Angeles casting for a disappointing Angels team that was out of the running for pretty much everything.
Now he’s come all the way across the country to be thrown into one of the most significant series of the season for the Braves.
The timing of his arrival couldn’t be better for Atlanta.
Raisel Iglesias could have a big role in the Braves-Mets series
That brave announced that Iglesias reported to the team on Thursday as they opened a five-game series against the Mets in New York.
Atlanta is 3.5 games behind their NL East rivals, so this series could have a big impact on the season either way.
Iglesias has spent the last two years with the Angels after spending six seasons with the Reds. Last year he made 34 saves with an ERA of 2.57.
This year hasn’t gone so well for him. He has a 4.04 ERA with 16 saves.
Manager Brian Snitker told reporters Kenley Jansen would remain closer to the team but Iglesias will serve as a secondary closer and helper. His role could be further expanded next year as Jansen signs a one-year deal.
For now, Iglesias can hold the bullpen while Atlanta waits for Kirby Yates to return from injury. The Brave should have an even more impressive bullpen when that happens.
First, they need to see how to dismantle the Mets lead at the top of the division. We’ll have to see if Iglesias can contribute to that goal as the series progresses.
