Braves drafted Vaughn Grissom with their 11th round pick in 2019 Draft MLB from a high school in Florida. While he’s a pretty solid prospect in his own right, he’s been looked down upon by some for being teammates with top Tigers prospect Riley Greene (a top pick of the year). Vaughn’s nomination).

What we’ve seen in 2021
Grissom is an all-rounder and versatile player who can play anywhere on the pitch (second, third and short this year), has a strong hitting feel and really has a deep understanding of strengths and weaknesses own.
At the time our roster was made, Grissom was having a good year, achieving 0.866 OPS across 50 games in the Low-A, but in the second half of the season he fell short. Starting July 28, he went on to post .915 OPS in his next 28 games in Low-A before earning promotion to end the year in High-A.
Once he got to High-A, Grissom somehow got even better than we saw at Low-A posting 1,114 OPS in the 12 games he’s seen at the level during go count. sets more than double the attack. Obviously a small sample size warning here, but for a player with his basic skill set and stats, there’s reason to buy into the second half.
Outlook for 2022
Grissom solidified his place in the Braves Top 10 prospects when the 2022 pre-season roster was scrapped following the end of his season like that. He will probably start the season back in High-A since he only watched 12 games there, but a promotion to Double-A is likely for him and could be pretty quick if he does. can perform anywhere almost like he did in the second half of 2021.
