Braves is considered a potential contender for baseball’s worst hitter

The Atlanta Braves have to look elsewhere than baseball’s worst hitter to defend their championship.

That would be something new. In an attempt to defend their title, what if the Atlanta Braves ended up trading for the worst hitter in baseball, Joey Gallo?

YES Network’s Jack Curry thinks Atlanta could do just that to stop the New York Yankees from having to fly around with Gallo on every road trip.

As Curry notes, the Braves are already without Adam Duvall, who was still playing regularly before suffering a season-ending injury. Atlanta could certainly use another outfield hitter. Is Gallo even worth her time?

Braves would be wrong to think that Joey Gallo just needs a change of scenery

The Braves already have Gallo on the list. Marcell Ozuna does pretty much what Gallo would do if he were able to turn things around. The difference is that Gallo is a much better defender and a left-hander at the moment.

Atlanta bucked some trends at last year’s close when they prioritized quantity over quality at the close. It was Duvall, Joc Pederson, Jorge Soler and Eddie Rosario who bought them at the close to bolster a questionable offense. It worked well. The Braves had a ton of depth and future NLCS and World Series MVPs on their roster after the trade deadline.

Gallo is not the answer for Atlanta and they would waste their time even trying to find lightning in a shot glass with him – a shot glass just because it’s smaller than the typical bottle.

The Yankees would likely trade Gallo for an aging ex-contender on his last leg on the farm, or even a veteran’s arm they could tuck in the minors and call only when needed.

The Braves are fed up with what Gallo does best when things go his way. Even for practically nothing, the Braves would be doing themselves a favor by looking elsewhere. All others so far. As a possible DFA candidate already in the coming days, if you’re interested in picking up another New York junk like Robinson Cano, you should just wait.
