Brave’s call-up Vaughn Grissom meets the first HR from Fenway: Best memes and reactions

The Atlanta Braves called 21-year-old Vaughn Grissom on Wednesday to face the Red Sox, and he sent an instant message into — or out of – Fenway Park.

For the second time this season, the Atlanta Braves made the bold decision to call up a top talent straight from the Double-A to the big leagues. After Orlando Arcia injured his hamstring on Tuesday, the club called up 21-year-old Vaughn Grissom to start at second base after beating NL rookie-of-the-year nominee Michael Harris earlier this season II had appointed.

As you might expect, even as the organization’s top pick, Grissom showed some nerve early on in his major league debut at Fenway Park, bobbing a groundball and then hitting a fielder’s choice and then his first two at-bats struck with the big team.

Needless to say, the first hit of his career, a Monster Jack job about the Green Monster, had Atlanta’s faithful hyped quite a bit on social media.

That’s a moment Grissom and Braves fans won’t soon forget, especially since he gave Atlanta a huge 5-1 lead on the road as they attempted to win the two-game set in Boston.
