Braden Holtby saves 39/40 in 500th career game, sets record for most wins in first 500 games

Prior to Washington Capitals Goalkeeper Braden Holtby clinched his 293rd career win on Tuesday night in a 4-1 win over the Carolina Hurricanes. Holtby saved 39 of 40 shots from his face, including three amazing saves late in the game.

Hotby’s 293 career wins is the most for any goalkeeper in NHL history through the first 500 games of his career. Jacques Plante (who didn’t benefit from OT/Shoots) made his mark earlier with 292 wins across 500 games.

Holtby has amassed 282 of his 293 wins in 468 games played in Washington.
