Bobby Wagner honored Kobe Bryant’s mamba mentality in Rams debut

Los Angeles Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner had one of the special debuts of the season in honor of Kobe Bryant’s “mamba mentality.”

Bobby Wagner has played at the SoFi Stadium before, but Thursday night was different. That Los Angeles Rams The season opener marked the first time Wagner wore a Rams uniform. And in the process, Wagner found a way to celebrate the city of Los Angeles by celebrating one of its most revered sports icons.

In prime time, Wagner paid tribute to the late NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s “mamba mentality” with a pad in his shorts that featured a picture of Bryant wearing his Los Angeles Lakers jersey.

The Rams unluckily lost 31-10 to the Buffalo Bills in the season opener, but Wagner played a decent game. He had a total of seven tackles (five solo and two assists) and one sack. In most seasons, Wagner averaged five tackles per game as the league’s leading middle linebacker, putting him on par with previous seasons despite the disappointing result.

Wagner embraces his first season in Los Angeles and his LA teammates embrace him right back. Wagner has already been chosen to captain the Rams for the 2022 season.

This all comes after Wagner spent ten seasons in Seattle with the Seahawks, so he deserves his first appearance as Ram in Bryant’s beloved Los Angeles to celebrate a commemoration.

In terms of the mamba mentality in the NFL, Bobby Wagner has been the embodiment of Kobe’s mantra for the past decade.

Any athlete of any sport can benefit from Mamba Mentality. The concept focuses on trusting the process and the work done rather than letting luck dictate the outcome.

said Bryant in a past interview that “the ‘mamba mentality’ is all about focusing on the process and trusting in the hard work when it counts. It’s the ultimate mantra for the competitive spirit. It started just as a hashtag that came to mind one day, and it’s grown into something that athletes — and even non-athletes — embrace as a mindset. Hard work outweighs talent every time. The mamba mentality is about 4 a.m. workouts, doing more than the other and then trusting in the work you’ve done when it’s time to perform. Without study, preparation and practice, you leave the result to fate. I don’t make destiny.”

As a veteran athlete brand new to a team for the first time in his career, Wagner is likely to find it nerve-wracking starting this season. His hard work has gotten him far, however, and it’s far from the end for the reigning Super Bowl champions.
