Bleacher Report lists three LA players to trade for

NS Los Angeles Lakers started the season with a 10-10 record, a far cry from what the team had envisioned in the summer.

Los Angeles has championship aspirations, but it doesn’t look like a great championship team with so far proven on-court chemistry at both ends of the deck.

While injuries and setbacks have certainly affected how strong LA is at the moment, browsing through the trading market could be an advantageous option if the Lakers think the roster needs more changes.

In a new Bleacher Report article lists trading goals for each team, three players were tied to the Lakers, starting with Detroit Pistons forward Jerami Grant:

The Lakers may have stopped themselves from making big moves as they poured their remaining resources into the Russell Westbrook deal, but one exception would be trading Talen Horton-Tucker when he’s eligible to trade in mid-January.

His youth, defensive versatility and lightning creativity could attract a future-focused shopper, and although he may not be looking for a deal for an elite , combining him with a sweetener or two might be enough for Jerami Grant. The Pistons must decide sooner if they want to cover the cost of Grant’s 2023 free agency, and if not, the Lakers could take him to bolster their fitness, defense and scoring on the flanks.

The other two players are Sacramento Kings guard Terence Davis and Portland Trail Blazers guard Ben McLemore:

Most likely LA could only go after players with deep discounts, so flyers about Terence Davis and Ben McLemore might be the best they can do. Not much can be done right now either, but Davis has shown three-and-D-work before, and McLemore has historically shot the three in one rich clip.

Out of these three options. Grant is by far the best player. He’s a top goalscoring pick for Detroit, and while he hasn’t performed as well this year as last year, he will provide a huge two-way presence for the Lakers with his size and versatility. his actions at both ends of the ring.

However, he makes $20 million a year, which would require the Lakers to part ways with Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn to match the salary.

Davis is a name Bleacher Report mentioned before, but he’s not a player that alternates with the Kings right now. He’s a 6-foot-4 keeper who has struggled at both ends of the ring this year, so the Lakers would be better off getting through that.

Then there’s McLemore, who was given a free walk by the Lakers this summer. He signed a one year minimum agreement to go to Portland but also not a member of the rotation. The Lakers experimented with him, so bringing him back wouldn’t make sense.

Grant is the top pick here, but the Lakers still have time to determine if moves will be made as the trading deadline approaches in a few months.
