That Los Angeles Lakers were looking for ways to improve their roster this offseason after failing to make the playoffs in the 2021-22 season. Gone is head coach Frank Vogel and new is Darvin Ham. Her biggest move of the offseason so far has been signing LeBron James for a contract extension. That was until now.

Late August 24th This was reported by The Athletic’s Shams Charania that the Lakers guard Patrick Beverley took over from the Utah Jazz in exchange for Talen Horton-Tucker. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Stanley Johnson is also traveling to Utah.

This move is interesting and fans of the chaos in the NBA will love it. Beverley is now teammates with Russell Westbrook, who has had beef with him throughout his career. Of course, Twitter users fired tons of memes.

The two have a strained relationship, so to speak. Most notably, Westbrook was critical of Beverly’s defense during the 2019-20 season, saying, “He just runs around doing nothing.” Earlier this year, Beverly appeared on JJ Redick’s The Old Man and the Three podcastwho said Westbrook “damaged his career” for the above comments.

Beverley returns to trading, bringing intensity to the Lakers roster. Last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Beverly had 9.2 points, 4.6 assists, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 58 games.

Beverley’s stint in Utah didn’t last long and he’s now on a Lakers team seeking an NBA Finals return.
