Best FTAC Recon Loadout in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Combat rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II are in a strange place. On the one hand, they’re great for taking out enemies at medium range, but they lose to SMGs and Assault Rifles at close range, and are completely outclassed at long range by Marksman and Sniper Rifles. The FTAC Recon is one of the first BRs you unlock and one of the weaker options. With the right attachments and playstyle adjustments, you can find success, but know that running and shooting aren’t usually your best bets.

Best FTAC Recon Attachments

Our FTAC Recon grow recommendations are designed to maximize kill ability on aim. Firing this weapon from the hip is far from ideal in the best scenarios, and you’ll lose nine times out of ten to almost everything else. We also want to make the weapon deadly at the greatest possible range and reduce recoil to make it as easy to control as possible. Be aware that these attachments will ridiculously slow down your ADD time, so you must be careful not to blindly rush into engagements.

  • barrel: Bullrider 16.5″. The bread and butter of the setup is recoil control, projectile velocity, damage range, and a bit of hipfire accuracy. While we’re paying for movement, ADS speed, and hipfire control, we’re not targeting constant movement here.
  • Optics: Either the DF105 Reflex Sight or the Hybrid Firepoint. In 6v6, most of the combat is close-range, and the FTAC Recon can work at medium range with a simple red dot. The hybrid gives you extra magnification and the ability to switch to a standard sight.
  • Rear handle: Sakin ZX grip. We use this attachment to balance the Ravage-8’s recoil reduction.
  • share: Desolation-8. We’re losing a bit of recoil control, but are regaining some ADS speed with this attachment, and we’ll make up for the loss of recoil elsewhere.
  • underflow: FTAC Ripper 56. Here we get both recoil stabilization and idle pendulum control, with some hipfire accuracy as a bonus. The reduction in walking speed is negligible, and we already know that our ADS speed is in the garbage.

Best gear in the FTAC Recon class

While overkill isn’t strictly necessary to make the FTAC Recon usable, it’s nice to have a close range option to mitigate its weaknesses.

  • Secondary: The SMG or shotgun of your choice.
  • Tactical grenade: Either Flashbangs or Shock Sticks. Both give you the option of either clearing rooms or opening up more distant enemies for an easy kill.
  • Lethal Gear: Claymore or Drill Charge, which you can use to keep an eye on your back or bring out a particularly troublesome camper from behind a wall.
  • perk pack: Overkill, Bomb Squad, Hardline or Cold-Blooded, Quick-Fix or Ghost. Depending on how you want to play, the stealth perks can be a stronger choice, so try each combination to see what works best for you.
  • field upgrade: DDOS or ammo box. You need a way to refill without access to Scavenger, and the Ammo Crate does just that. DDOS is great for checking rooms or racking up points. Best FTAC Recon Loadout in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
