Best counters for Sigma in Overwatch 2

Sigma might not currently be at the top of the list of best tanks to play in any Overwatch 2 match, but in certain situations it can take over a game and be difficult to take down. In the right hands, Sigma is a force to be reckoned with and can demand the full attention of your team. Here are some tips and hero tips to counter Sigma in Overwatch 2.

Best hero pick vs Sigma in Overwatch 2

When you’re going up against Sigma, there are a few good ways to counter him, but make sure you don’t take advantage of his strengths. Here are our recommendations for hero choices in each class.

• Tanks – Doomfist, Ramattra, Reinhardt, Roadhog, Winston
• Damage – Bastion, Echo, Genji, Junkrat, Mei, Pharah, Sombra, Tracer, Widowmaker
• Support – Baptiste, Kiriko, Lucio, Zenyatta

Tank players should try to face Sigma and divert attention from their teammates. Doomfist players should find it fairly easy to jump in and out of fights with Sigma and smack him around to throw him off track. Ramattra can beat his shields and Roadhog has a pretty easy time destroying them. Reinhardt can easily rush him into walls or off the map, and Winston can have a prolonged presence that damages him and nearby supports. With Doomfist and Winston, knowing when to drop out of combat is important, especially when you’re alone.

Damage heroes must avoid shooting in Sigma’s Kinetic Grasp, but let it rain on him outside of those moments. Bastion and Junkrat can deplete his health, Echo and Pharah are hard for him to hit in the air, Mei and Sombra can slow him down and prevent him from using abilities in crucial situations, Genji and Tracer can move around him, and Widowmaker can choose to fend him off with well-placed shots from a distance.

Support characters should not get close to Sigma unless the entire team is jumping on him. That being said, the best use for supports is to limit the profitability of his Ultimate. Baptiste, Kiriko, Lucio, and Zenyatta can all work to negate the heavy damage Gravitic Flux deals to teammates trapped inside. Lucio should also be used to get teammates into locations where they will bypass Sigma’s shields and set up good lanes for Baptiste and Kiriko to use their ultimates.

Since Sigma fires fairly slowly, you’ll want to bombard him with numbers. Get as many people in his face as possible to break his health and remove all the supports keeping him alive. Avoid feeding him extra health when he’s using Kinetic Grasp and you should be golden. His shield can help him in certain spots, but it should be easy enough to destroy or move to make it null.
