A man died in prison just a day after he allegedly stabbed his wife. For the time being 39-year-olds Benjamin Pierces death does not appear suspicious, although the matter is under investigation.
“No obvious signs [of] Trauma or foul play,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez called in an announcement Saturday. “Most of the time he was in a one-man cell.”

Deputies responded to an ongoing call at Block 3200 of Painted Meadow Circle around 8:19 a.m. Friday, according to KPRC.
Pierce reportedly told lawmakers he stabbed his wife. Authorities found her in the foyer. First responders declared her dead.
The couple’s 7-year-old son, who was physically unharmed, was inside the home and may have witnessed the fatal attack, officials said.
Defendant Pierce allegedly called 911 after calling a relative to whom he confessed to the stabbing. The family member and a woman drove to the house.
According to official sources, Leslie and Benjamin Pierce had been fighting over divorce and custody.
Leslie Ann Pierce had worked for the Katy Independent School District.
“In accordance with state law regarding incarcerated deaths in prison, an independent agency will conduct an investigation. [The Houston Police Department] will be the investigative agency,” Gonzalez said. “The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will conduct a medical examination.”
