Bengals QB Joe Burrow moves up in Madden 23 post division round rating update

EA released its latest round of Madden 23 rating updates following the conclusion of the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs. As expected, most of the favorites won their respective matchups, with the Eagles in particular putting on a convincing performance in the 38-7 win over the Giants. However, there was one team that seemed to deviate from the script and performed well against their heavyweight opponents.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals were initially seen as slight underdogs against powerhouse Buffalo Bills. But thanks to Joey Franchise’s exploits and their underrated defense, they managed to pull off a 28-10 win over the AFC East champions, who were considered Super Bowl favorites throughout the season.
Due to his commanding performance, the Bengals QB received a generous but deserved two-point rating boost, taking his overall rating from 93 to 95. This makes him the second-highest-rated QB in the game, and just four points behind the real-life cheat code, which is Patrick Mahomes.

Other Bengals players who received a boost in their ratings include CB’s Mike Hilton and Cam Taylor-Britt, both of whom helped choke Stefon Diggs during their showdown. On the other hand, Josh Allen had expectedly dropped his overall rating by one point from 94 to 93 after a memorable performance against a weak runner-up.
Tre’Davious White, the Bills All-Pro CB, was similarly reduced in his overall rating by the same amount, from 93 to 92. However, he held his own against one of the league’s best wide receiver duos in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, so the point drop comes as a bit of a surprise.
