Bedlam has the title of Big 12, the meaning of the Playoff of College Football – The Athletic

Bedlam is one of the more famous college football competitors, even though Oklahoma dominated the series for much of the game’s history. The Sooners are 82-17-8 against Oklahoma State, including a 17-1 difference when both are ranked. OU has also beaten its state rival in its previous six meetings, averaging 18.3 points over that period. So why does it feel like Oklahoma is the bottom team here – apart from opening the score 3.5 points in favor of Oklahoma State. Perhaps because the Sooners are facing a must-win situation, OU-OSU is off to a good start after Baylor-Texas Tech, so Lincoln Riley’s team will know what’s at stake.

The Sooners and Cowboys are set for a primetime battle with the opening game at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday on ABC.

Oklahoma State has earned its spot in next week’s conference title game. Win on Saturday and the Cowboys could prevent the Sooners from joining them in Arlington. Mike Gundy has won the Big 12 once since he arrived in Stillwater. Many of his best teams have been backed by a strong attack with some of the NFL’s caliber of skill players. This group is different. OSU is winning with lock protection. The Cowboys are college football’s #2 scoring guard and allow for the least number of third-goal conversions along with the fewest third yards per game. Shutting down the Sooners this year won’t overturn this rivalry, but it will certainly make a statement.
