These days, it seems a lot of game companies are interested in NFT. But while Konami rushing into space NFTDon’t expect Platinum Games to follow suit.

In a recent VGC Interviewing with the studio, newly minted CEO Atsushi Inaba and game designer Kamiya gave their opinions on non-fungible tokens. As usual with this duo, neither of them were lying down their opinion.

“I understand it’s a hot topic right now and it’s really starting to gain momentum, but the way it’s gaining momentum is focusing on profits for the company, but not having a positive impact on the creators. creator or user in any sense,” said Inaba. “So it’s frustrating to see that happen.”

According to Inaba, the people who are promoting NFT and trying to partner with game companies are doing it in a one-way way, simply realizing that there is money to be created. “But how does it benefit users or creators? If I want to spend my time on something, I want it to benefit making good games.”

Inaba isn’t completely disheartened by NFTs and admits that they can becomes more important over time. “As content becomes more and more digital, I think NFT as a concept will gain more importance, but I think early adopters just see it as a way to get as much profit as possible. ,” I said. “Honestly, it’s not something that I want to be a part of.”

Kamiya seems to be even less sold on NFT, saying, “I have no interest in the subject.” As for Kamiya, he considers himself a consumer rather than a businessman. “It doesn’t benefit users at the moment,” he said. “In the future, if it expands to have a positive side for users, then maybe I’ll start to be interested in what they do with it. But I don’t see that at the moment.”

But as vets in the industry, is it surprising to see Konami embrace the NFT? “Not really,” said Kamiya, who added, “If it smells like money, Konami will be there in a heartbeat!”
